Narberth Run

Emma, Alex, and the Hoekzema's took part in the annual Narberth Run, a five mile run for Cystic Fibrosis. The weather was perfect, and Alex and Emma were all smiles before the race. Lisa and Terri represented the cheering section.

The race proved to be quite a challenge, but spirits remained high throught most of the first couple miles...

A little less hand waving by mile three...

And by mile five, the little peanut echoed everyone's sentiments...

All in all, everyone had a great time. Emma was already looking forward to next years' event.

Until next time,
Alex, Lisa, and Emma

Omi's Visit

Omi visited us on this wet April weekend. The weather was horrible, but we still had a nice visit!

Emma's Nine Month Visit

Today we had Emma's nine month visit with the pediatrician. I'm happy to report that she is still growing, and is in the 90th percentile for height and the 64th for weight. Nice proportions there, I think! Topics discussed were her very sensitive skin, which I was told is normal for infants, and her eating method of putting everything she can get into her mouth but not really doing much swallowing. She can get a lot of food in there at once, I tell you! Nothing remarkable beyond that but she is doing great and otherwise had a nice day. Alex made it home on a tuesday before midnight, so all is well with the Spiess family tonight!

Easter!

Today was Emma's first Easter. I was excited to dress her up and bought her a very cute Easter dress. I should note that this is Lisa writing, not Alex, in case you think it was strange that Alex was so excited about her Easter dress. Maybe he was excited too, I am not sure. Anyway, what I didn't count on was the ridiculous weather we are having (very cold, with some snow!) so the very cute dress will have to wait for another occasion. I don't think she really cared what she was wearing, though. What she did care about was that she had two of her favorite people visiting and was getting tons of attention!

We went out for Easter brunch, and usually she loves eating out, but I think she was exhausted from visiting with Nan and Frank, so she got a little cranky. She was so tired when we came home that she took a 2 hour and 45 minute nap, which is about an hour longer than her normal naps. I hope that next year she can enjoy some Easter activities like easter-egg hunting, although that could possibly be several years away...

Nine months!

Nine months have come and gone. Little girl has become really very active. The weather has started to break here in Philly, and Emma and Fife sit and wait patiently at the door for someone to let them out to play. It seems that the long winter has made everyone stir crazy.

Three months cooped up indoors has created a new friendship between the furry beasts and little Emma...

Valentines day and Lisa's birthday also flew by in early February. Once again, Emma stole the show, during a time which was once known as "Lisa's week."
